Ed was born and raised in Mosinee, Wisconsin. He has a BS degree from Western Michigan University in Pulp and Paper Technology and Chemistry. Ed and his wife Gloria, lived in Franklin, Virginia; Alpena, Michigan; Port Huron, Michigan; Shawano, Wisconsin and most recently, Madison, Wisconsin. Ed was the Director of Manufacturing Systems at Little Rapids Corporation until his retirement in March 2009.
Ed previously served for 7 years as the Region 6 Director for the American Kitefliers Association and vice president of the Wisconsin Kiters’ kite club. He enjoys making kites and has attended MAKR and U-MAKE several times. Ed has competed in the kite making competition at the AKA national convention on five occasions and has won a second and third place award as well a special award for the best use of original materials. He has been making and flying kites since he was 15 years old.
Previous classes: For the last several years Ed has been leading kite-making classes for church groups, 4H groups, the Wisconsin Kiter’s Kite Club and for U-MAKE 2012 “Roll Up Bag” class.
