Gary MaynardFerndale, MI
Gary Maynard is from the Metro Detroit area of Michigan. For almost 33 years he has been a member of the Windjammer Kite Team. While out riding his bike on a small island park in the center of the Detroit River, he ran into two guys who would change his life forever (Nate and Aaron). They began flying together regularly. And when team competitive Stunt Kite flying (Sport Kites for you Newbies) began in the 80s, they hit the road (well, maybe the Sky.) Since those early days, Gary Maynard has made friends in kiting around the world and traveled a bit too. He has dabbled in kite making, learned a few tricks from Adrian Conn, who lived just across the river in Windsor Canada. He enjoys all aspects of kiting; Single, Dual and Quad. Gary also has a slide show, which has been converted to an Electronic Presentation that he has shown at schools, scout meetings and libraries to get others interested in the world of kiting. Once known as shy, Gary has earned a place at the front of the room and the center of the party. Gary is looking forward to many more years flying and making new friends.
