Amie Ritchie was born in NYC and after moving around the world (8 states and 3 countries) wound up settling in Ann Arbor, MI in adulthood. After 20 years working in IT, she returned to school and has 2 degrees in Nutrition (dietetics and Human Nutrition) from Eastern MI University. She now works at Michigan Medicine as a Heart transplant Dietitian after 9 years in outpatient dialysis.
She has attended 3 in person and one virtual U-MAKE and enjoys making and flying single line kites- fighters, smaller stacks, and big ground displays. She also likes putting on big ground displays to entertain the public as well as teaching new single line flyers.
She is a fiber artist and weaves, sews, knits, spins and crochets as well as making a variety of braids with Kumihimo. She grew up flying kites and after a period of not doing so returned to it as a major part of her life about 15-20 years ago.
Amie and her husband are regular attendees of MI and surrounding area festivals- including Lyon township, Grand Haven, Southpoint (Leamington Ontario, Canada), and The Stunt Kite Games at Maumee Bay.
