BYOB - Build Your Own (Day) Bag

SIZE OF PROJECT:  The bags finish to approximately 42" tall by 10" wide, with 2 side pockets, a drawstring closure, and an adjustable carry strap.  Day Bags are designed to hold a handful of kites and accessories for a fun day without weighing you down.  

WIND RANGE:  It is not recommended to use this bag as a kite, as the bridling system hasn't been developed yet. That said, it may become a kite in a hurricane.    

Designed for quads, but tweaked over the years to accommodate for any kite that breaks down to roughly 50" or less, the day bag is a great design to hold a handful of kites and accessories for a fun day out flying. The bags finish to approximately 42" tall by 10" wide, with 2 side pockets featuring snap closures, a drawstring closure at the top of the bag, and an adjustable carry strap.  Can hold roughly 5 or 6 kites (this may vary depending on the circumference of each kite and how full the pockets are). Pockets are roughly 15" tall with a snap closure. They were initially designed to hold a set of quad handles in each pocket with a handful of line sets and other accessories (car keys and wallets too!). The only thing these pockets won't like are hoop winders, as the pockets are flat to the bag.

Skills - You will learn how to: reinforce bag straps using the "box stitch" method; use a snap press and attach snaps to items; make a drawstring channel. 

Supplies/Equipment Needed for class -- Sewing Machine, scissors and regular sewing supplies.  Also 90/14 or 100/16 needles (universal or sharp, denim works too), black thread (ideally a heavier weight thread, polyester preferred. Gutermann Mara 50, 70 and 100 can all work.), seam ripper, pins or clips, scissors, a basic ruler. 

Optional - Most stitching is not visible, but you may opt to bring a colorful coordinating thread for top stitching elements. Colorful thread may be any weight, but be warned that ultra light weight thread doesn't like the bigger needles we're using. Cassie will also bring a selection of colorful threads that may be borrowed for top stitching elements.

COLOR CHOICE:  Color choices - There will be many color choices available. Solid colors for bodies of the bags, and interesting prints for the pockets and drawstring extension.....color choices are selected in class.
