Tessellation Madness
Presented by Darryl Waters Zeeland, MI
TYPE OF CLASS: Lecture/Demo
SKILL LEVEL: All Levels
CLASS SIZE: 15
TIMES OFFERED: Offered Once
CLASS LENGTH: Half Day
Tessellations are repeated pattern tiles that Interlock and form a flat surface. My geckos kite is a good (if somewhat complicated) example of that.
In this class you will learn the rules to make a tile guaranteed to interlock properly, and what rules CAN be broken for a more interesting one.
Students can spend time playing with making their own templates using paper cutouts. Optionally, students can bring a laptop and use the free, open source program Inkscape (https://inkscape.org/) to easily design their tiles electronically.
Students should bring a Pen/Pencil, scissors, and a straight edge. Also a laptop if desired.
