This is the same kite Ohashi Kite that Ken Conrad presented at U-MAKE 2020. Due to its popularity in 2020, Ken decided to offer the KIT again, even though we won't have time for a class during our U-MAKE weekend for the Ohashi Kite. Kits will be supplied with Ken's very complete, illustrated instructions.

Please bring a Project Bag to keep all parts together until assembly.  

2020 U-MAKE participants created many Ohashi Kites using a variety of art ranging from fractal art to photos of family and pets.  Each was a wonderful work of art!  

The Ohashi kite is a bit unknown and under appreciated in the US, this kit aims to change that!

Turn your photo, scanned or computer art into a unique cleverly detailed Ohashi-style kite. This kite is made of polyester ripstop (custom-printed by Ken Conrad in advance) and framed with carbon and fiberglass. Simple, precise sewing and some tidy knots result in this easy-to-fly, wide-wind-range kite with a cool custom bag. Instructions for preparing and sending your digital art provided when you register – email Ken Conrad with any questions. 

Supplies/Equipment Needed for class -- Sewing Machine, thread, ripper, scissors, regular sewing supplies and a 24 inch straight edge

ART/COLOR CHOICE:  YES!  At registration please submit your artwork (digital) and Ken will print your sail and bring it to U-MAKE.  This kite, unfortunately does not have time to be presented at U-MAKE, but participants can buy one or more kits and either get a group together afterwards to sew the kite, or form a Facebook Group to sew together virtually.    

KIT PRICE:  Ohashi Kite is $80-$100 US  Shipping to your USA address will be $25.  All payments by PayPal Invoice

Kit has printed sail, complete instructions, spars and reinforcements.  

KITS AVAILABLE.  May be picked up by a 2026 U-MAKE Registrant.  Art work MUST be submitted by 1/18/2026.  May also be shipped with an extra fee to your USA address.
