The Geode is a Spikey Ball Ground Bouncer with a nearly hidden air intake and hidden reinforcements for the bridle attachments. The shallow spikes make it a little more difficult for little hands to grab hold. It looks complicated, but is actually fairly easy to assemble. Mathematically speaking, it’s a stellated icosidodecahedron. It’s made from 3 and 5 sided modules, each module is made from equilateral triangles. The 4 foot size is great for hanging off the line of a kite, the 6 and 8 foot ones are ideal off of an anchor.
This is a beginner friendly build as everything is straight lines. Although this is an easy project, it’s a very time consuming one. Most students may not finish. The good news though is that all the interesting bits happen in the first half of the build which everyone should be able to finish. Although there is a big difference in the amount of fabric between the 3 sizes (it grows exponentially), the time it takes to sew them is not significantly different.
Students can choose to work a day and a half, knowing they will need to finish at home, or work all weekend towards a more completed project!
