Ed was born and raised in Mosinee, Wisconsin. He has a BS degree from Western Michigan University in Pulp & Paper Technology, and Chemistry. Ed and his wife Gloria have lived in Franklin, Virginia; Alpena, Michigan; Port Huron, Michigan; Shawano, Wisconsin and most recently, Madison, Wisconsin. Ed was the Director of Manufacturing Systems at Little Rapids Corporation until his retirement in 2009.  

Ed previously served for seven years as the Region 6 Director for the American Kitefliers Association and vice president of the Wisconsin Kiters’ kite club. He enjoys making kites and has attended MAKR and U-MAKE for many years. He has been making and flying kites since he was 12 years old and never stopped. 

Previous classes: Ed has led kite-making classes for various groups including church groups, 4H groups, the Wisconsin Kiter’s Kite Club and for U-MAKE 2012 “Roll Up Bag” class, the “Circoflex class” in 2022, the “Trash Bag Delta” class in 2023. He also taught the “Circoflex” class at Fort Worden in 2023.
