Description
This project will be a sturdy midsized delta, about 40” wide made of ripstop fabric.
It sports contrasting edging and a sparkling mylar inset, all done without a stitch.
It will fly in a wide wind range. We will be practicing techniques that will be useful for building and repairing a wide variety of kites.
We will be making a simple drogue to go with it, primarily because it looks cool and is a fun accessory to know.
Fabric colors will be selected at U-MAKE, but if you would like to premake your sail, Mitch will be willing to send out the plan in case you would like to do something special that may take longer than class time. Kit cost will be adjusted if you bring your own sail.
Supplies/Equipment Needed for class -- Scissors, utility knife, 24" or longer straight edge, marking pencil for fabric, and a needle threader, fid, or bent wire to ease line through sail holes, 3-4 small weights, a small cloth or paper bag for trash, and an old credit card or laminate sample for creasing. Your sharp scissors should be larger than 4 inches for ease in cutting long curves..
