Scott Skinner
Monument, CO
Scott is a 1975 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and turned to kites during his flying career as an interesting flight-related hobby. He quickly became interested in the history, traditions and lore of kites and soon started an adulthood of kitemaking. Since 1984 he has explored the possibilities of geometric patchwork patterns in a variety of contemporary, and now, traditional kites. For almost 20 years he has refined his double-sided tape joining technique to make geometric paper patchwork in the fashion of fabric models. Using washi especially treated for color printing, he has found a limitless source of sail material that is unique for every individual.
