Learn how to split and bend bamboo from a master!

In this half day class you can make up to three kites.

This great class starts with a lecture and demonstration on splitting bamboo, then you will experiment with these Miniature Japanese Kites.

The Drachen Foundation says ""Good Looking" Dan has been an active member of the kiting community for over three decades. He brings Japanese heritage and sensitivity to his kite making but has great technical skill for any kite project. His paper and bamboo miniature kites are exquisite, and he crafts many of his own kite making tools.

Supplies/Equipment Needed for class -- the slideshow has basic tools for bamboo and miniatures. If you do not have these particular tools, Dan will bring spares so you can use proper tools. In addition to these tools, a small light source is beneficial. Also you can bring some small paint brushes and a small container for dye or paint.

Extra kits available to any current U-MAKE Registrant

KIT CHOICE: Up to three (3) skins selected in class, in order of registration. Extra skins available.

KIT PRICE: Project is $10 US for 3 printed mini kites with bamboo and Japanese Washi paper. Extra skins will be $2.00 US each.
